Adjust your play to: Part 1 - The tight game

One of your most important talents as a poker player is the ability to change the tempo.
A certain style of play can be against a certain type of player most profitable, but lead to a different type to disastrous results. The successful players will be able to adapt to the specific circumstances of each individual lot in which they participate.

In short, if you are not able to adjust to the game at your table, you will lose. You can not sit with a prefabricated style of play at a table and expect you to win automatically. It does not work poker.
So how do you find the right style? Well, of course, you need to watch the table. Watch the game and watch their dynamics. The game is tight or loose?

Poker Step by Step Part 1: Cost Estimates 1-2

Poker is an interesting game, and especially Hold' em. Even someone who has never in his life has seen the game, it can learn within minutes.
The game is very simple, yet also one of the most complex pleasures of the world. Although one can easily play Hold'em, but to control it, not many achieved after 40 years.
If you deal precisely with the game, it goes through several stages of knowledge and intellectual levels.Actually, as with all things, must learn that one.
Take for example the guitar. First of all you have to focus on where the fingers should be. After some practice, you know how does a couple of chords and consider which handle changes are needed to get from one chord to the next.

Poker is booming and several more. The growth rates are enormous and take more and more newcomers and their seats, mostly online.

Many still know relatively little about the game and are therefore more experienced players for so-called "dead money", so to speak, the money, after which you literally only have to stoop to it from the street auszuheben.Dabei you can with a few lessons already the learn basic knowledge and thus make itself the "ignorant" opponent.

The biggest secret in online poker

Of all the tips we have received over the years by professional players of a particular stands out: Stay at online poker patience! Everything depends on patience and this factor will decide in the end, whether you will make in your online play money or not.
It is normal that sometimes you do not get good cards for weeks, and a good poker player learns to cope. It is well known that you can lose a lot of money if you play too high above your limit. If you learn not to play with patience, you can go even faster broke.

Professional poker players are extremely patient

You will not find a professional poker player who is impatient, because poker is a game where you think the long term. Luck in poker is important, of course, to conclude a profit. But the best players know that the going in poker like the stock market: There are highs and there are lows, but if you have a good plan, it pays to remain stable and play evenly.

The fish call to increase the sharks

In limit, and even no-limit games you will often experienced that several players calling for a raise ... Sometimes you lose your hand if you go into such a pot.

In limit, and even no-limit games you will often experiences that call for a raise several players ... Sometimes you will lose your hand if you go into such a pot. Do this, therefore, not a habit, since:

Callen shows weakness
The raiser usually holds the better hand
Do you have a good hand, it should be increased up to you. If you want to just call again and see the cards, you will have to see through easily. Of course there are exceptions to this rule:
If you hold a Jack (Jacks) in hand and there were already two pre-flop raises, increase should only yourself if you want to bet on your next card, and more than a few people in the pot.

Strong hand, small pot - Part 2: The mean hand

Some amateurs believe that hands can only win small pots with strong. That would mean of course that big pots with weak hands are won only.

The rationale goes something like this:

"Increases and get called pre-flop is only with good cards, so more likely to hit with low cards and the flop to crack the good hands."

Although this is a logic that is based on a half-truth and at the border of the ridiculous is but the concept of weak hand, big pot is not as far-fetched. It is quite possible to scenarios in which the concept applies exactly.

Strong hand, small pot - Part 1: Their fault

First of two articles of an anti-thesis against Daniel Skolovys recent strategy articles "strong hand, big pot, weak hand, small pot.

For the following discussion are now ready to order, please read this article .

Ready? So: How many times have you heard the following sentence? "With Pocket Aces win one small pot or lose big"?

If your answer is "never", you wait it only occasionally. It's just a matter of time.

The same players represented like the maxim that you should play in a raised multiway pot all low cards, and for the following reason:

"Players raise and call raises with high cards, thus increasing the chance that you meet with small maps and hits the high cards."

Both statements contain a grain of truth. It is even more than a grain. I would say that as much truth there is that I think it is wrong to label them as "wrong".

But I will now try to explain where the logic error that stuck in what and how it could come to them.

The combo draw on the flop

There are only a few draws, the flop have more equity than a made hand. Combo draws are so powerful that sometimes they are even favorites. In a combo draw means a draw of more than 12 outs. These Draws are so strong that they should be sharp allude to almost every flop.
Examples of Combo Draws:
  • A pair of open-ended straight draw (13 outs against an over-pair)
  • A pair with flush draw (14 outs)
  • Gutshot straight flush draw (12 outs)
  • Straight draw and flush draw (15 outs)
  • The rare and precious open-ended straight flush draw

In each of these examples helps us more than a quarter of the deck to a better hand than an over-pair. Even the worst combo draws - the gutshot straight flush draw - against the over-pair has a 50-50 chance! For us, this means that we are behind even against monsters only slightly. Against average hands, we are clearly a favorite. Such hands must be played hard. For a good player it means a lot of money.

Big hand, big pot, weak hand, small pot

It is really quite simple if you flop a strong hand, wants to increase the pot. If you hold a weak hand, however, is attempting to keep small pot to.

Many players make the mistake of building with no more than a couple big pots, only to fold to nnoch but if the bottom is too big.
I will now develop an alternative strategy and show you how to control the pot, if you have a rather weak hand holds, and how to build, if you hold a very strong hand. Let's look at the following example:
The game is played $ 1 / $ 2, and Hertzian the effective stacks are at $ 200 We get As K d on the button. The two players in the blinds are solid, tight-aggressive player. It is folded around to us and we will increase to $ 8th The small blind is paid, the big blind folds.
The flop is K h 3 s 5 c . The opponent checks and we put $ 15 The Gegnr paid. the turn is on the 6 d . The opponent checks and we put $ 35 The enemy paid.
The river is on the 6 s . The enemy is $ 100

Online Poker Legislation: The Year in Review

It was a roller-coaster year politically for Internet poker in 2010. The first half of the year was like a slow climb of anticipation up the track, then came the steep drop in June, a new high in July, another plunge in September and a series of loops in the final month.

Poker players got off the ride a little dizzy, slightly confused and standing virtually in the same place they got on.

There is no doubt that Internet poker made more progress on Capitol Hill in 2010 than ever before. Yet, it could easily be argued that the industry is worse off now than when the year began.
